EPIDEMICS BREAK OUT
Diphtheria in Britain

London, January 1. Diphtheria epidemics have broken out in areas throughout Britain, particularly in northern towns. They are attributed largely to the prevalent damp and unseasonable weather. The present temperature is nearly 15 degrees above normal. London has had no frost for over a month, which' is unprecedented in mid-winter.
