Queensland Cricketers’ Stand PARTNERSHIP ADDS 335 (Received January 2, 11.15 p.m.) Sydney, January 2. A partnership between Andrews and Bensted, which added 335 runs for the seventh wicket, was the *outstanding feature of the Sheffield Shield match between Queensland and New South Wales to-day. The total scored by the two Queenslanders was nine short of the world’s record for the seventh wicket, established by Ranjitsinhji and Newsham for Sussex against Essex in 1002. New South Wales in their first innings made 318 (Chipperfield 119, Eingleton 40, Chilvers 44, Oxenham four for 95, Wyeth four for 113), Queensland's first innings total was 494 (Andrews 253, Bensted 155. Theak three for 123, Chilvers three for 91, i Chipiperfield two for 65). In thier second innings, New South Wales have lost one wicket for 178 (Brown 89, Flngleton 87 not out). WIN FOR VICTORIA Margin of Tpn Wickets (Received January 2, 11.15 p.m.) Melbourne, January 2. Against South Australia, who made 264 (Badcock 48, Shepherd 80), Victoria in their first innings made 416 (Rigg 49, Darling 159, Seaife 45, Bromlev 59, Wall four for 132, Lee three for 122). South Australia, in their second innings, made 234 (Nitsehke 48, Lonergan 64, Badcock 39, Fleetwood-Smith four for 90, Ebeling three for 52). Victoria in thoir innings made S 3 for no wickets (Rigg 38 not out, Darling 41 not out),. Victoria won by 10 wickets. WOMEN’S CRICKET TEST England Beats Australia Brisbane, December 31. In the women’s cricket test match Australia (first innings 47) in their second innings made 138 (Shevill, 63, not( out; Spear, five wickets for 20 runs). England, in their second innings, made 34 for one wicket (Snbwball, 18, not out). England won by nine, wickets. M.C.C. IN WEST INDIES Match With Barbados Drawn Barbados, December 31. In a cricket match against the M.C.d team, Barbados made 382 ■ (Sealey 87, Martindale 45, Hollies five for 81). Marylebone made 170. Marylebone was continually on the defensive against the spin bowlers. Wyajt made 25, Townsend 23, Hammond 2, Hendren 9, Leyland 12, Ames 26, and Fames 22. Byer took four for 28 and Parris four for 34. • Barbados, in their second innings, made 149 for seven wickets declared (Carew .43, Hollies three for 26). M.C.C. made 221 for five wickets (Wyatt 51, Hendren 54, Hammond 39). Parris took three wickets for 59. The match was drawn. SOUTH AFRICA’S CAPTAIN ' This Year’s English Tour Cape Town, January 1. H. F. Wade, the Natal Currie Cup captain, has been appointed captain of the South African team to tour England this year, Cameron will be vicecaptain. Wade has already had experience in playing cricket in England in 1927, 1928 and 1929, ..taking part in Yorkshire League games, when his batting average was 60 in each season. The South African Cricket Board of Control has decided to apply the amended leg-before-wicket rule to all matches,, including Tests, played by the South African team during the tour of England.
