Line MUCH DAMAGE CAUSED By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received January 3, 1.30 a.m.) Sydney, January 2. Mischievous children residing in the / vicinity of the Darling Harbour goods assembling yards caused a serious train accident this evening. Fortunately, nobody was'injured. The youngsters placed a wood sleeper across the rails in the path of an outward bound western goods train, which struck the obstacle travelling at 20 miles an hour. The locomotive and four leading trucks left the rails and ploughed into a steep embankment. .Several heavily-loaded wagons in the centre of the- train were telescoped am! piled 50 feet in the air. .Miscellaneous goods and merchandise were scattered in all directions, causing damage estimated at thousands of pounds. The engine driver escaped with a severe shaking and shock.
The children watched the accident then ran away.
