BATHERS ATTACKED BY SHARK
Two Mauled Near Sydney ONE DIES IN HOSPITAL; OTHER CRITICALLY HURT (Received January 1, 7 p.m.) Sydney, January 1. Two vicious attacks, believed to have been made by the one shark, took place in Georges River, near Sydney, within three hours late yesterday. Richard George Soden, aged 20, had his thigh badly ripped, succumbing to Bis injuries in hospital, while Beryl Gladys Morrlu, aged 13. was horribly mauled and taken from the water in a critical condition. Doctors later amputated both her arms. In each case men gallantly entered the water and helped the victims ashore.
