Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, January 1, 1935, nt 4 p.m. A fairly intense depression now covers the eastern. Tasman Sea and New Zealand. Forecast: Northerly winds north of Greymouth and Akaroa; elsewhere easterly, changing soon to southerly and southerlies later extending up as far as Look Strait; moderate to strong, and in places reaching gale force. Seas rough on the west coast and south of Castlcpoint; elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate to strong northerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, backing soon to southerlies 1 in the southern half. Seas rough. Weather unsettled, cloudy and misty generally, with rain, in most districts; thunder probable in (places. Temperatures warm, but becoming cooler to-morrow.
