NEW YEAR PARTY
Lower Hutt Gathering
An enjoyable New Year party, at which there was a splendid attendance, was held at the Returned Soldiers’ Association rooms. Lower Hutt, on Monday evening. Old-time dances began at nine o’clock and continued until after midnight, to the excellent music of Mrs. Robins, Mr. Bryant, and Mr. Bird. Paper hats were distributed, and prizes were given, for competitions. Just before midnight, community singing led to the joining hands for ‘■Auld Lang Syne,” and cheers to usher in the New Year.
In the official party were Colonel C. E. Butcher, Mr. and Mrs. R. Peel (Mrs. Peel in floral marocain), Mr. and Mrs. F. Townsend (floral crepe), Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Buekeridge (navy georgette and lace), and Mrs. Bennett (black lace). Among others present, were Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Winnie (floral georgette), Mrs. Guest (checked taffetas), Misses Adams (‘blue georgette), F. Mouldres (lemon crepe), M. Mouldres (pink satin), F. Townsend (apricot satin), Glover (blue satin), J. Butcher (green organdie), J. C. Winnie (floral georgette), J. Clemo (pink georgette), and Bird (scarlet velvet).
