New Year Pairs Tourney
PROGRAMME ALTERED
Ruin yesterday afternoon caused- play in the Wellington Bowling Centre’s New Year pairs competition, whWh opened in the morning, to cease after three of the four rounds set down in- the programme for play during the day had been completed. Rain early in the afternoon delayed the'competition of the third round and as it drew to a close after a resumption it was’decided not to commence the fourth. At the time the decision was madd (about 4.30) most players were glad to cease play, but a little later the rain stopped, although it remained overeast and gloomy. Five rounds insted of four will be played to-day, commencing at 5.30 a.m. Section A played at Hataitai and section B at Victoria yesterday. To-day section A will play at. Kelburn and section B at Wellington. . Following are the results of play yesterday:—

HUTT VALLEY TOURNEY First Round Results Thirty-two rinks entered for the Hutt Valley bowling tournament, which opened yesterday. These comprised 11 rinks from Wellington, nine from Lower Hutt, six from Central, and two each from Upper Hutt, Woburn, and Petone. The weather at the start was excellent, and the grounds were in first-class order, fast and true, although bearing a parched appearance. On account of the rain the programme was abandoned after the commencement of the second round, which was wiped out. The programme for to-day will now be five games of 13 heads, with a time limit of one hour and three-quarters. The games will start on each green at 9 a.m. sharp, and the tournament is expected to finish on Thursday. Results of yesterday’s play are as follow: — First Round SECTION A.—CENTRAL GREEN.
