Increasingly Popular in England MORE OPEN GAME ADOPTED Dominion Special Service. Auckland, December 30. Rugby football is becoming increasingly, popular in England with a noticeable improvement in the standard' of play, according to Dr. £>. F. McEvedy,’ of Wellington, president of the NewZealand R.ugby Union, who returned by the Akaroa after a holiday visit to Englandi “English players appear to have adopted a more open game,” Dr. McEvedy said, “and there is more (back Play in club matches than there used to be. “Everyone in England at all interested in Rugby is looking forward keenly to the All Blacks’ tour during the next English winter, and our players are assured of a magnificent reception.”
Dr. McEvedy is remaining on board the Akaroa until she reaches Wellington.
