ATTACK ON LEAGUE
Final Session of Saar Parliament SOVEREIGNTY DENIED Saarbincken, December 28. The final session of the Saar Parliament before the plebiscite was marked by a bitter attack on the League of. Nations and a denial of its sovereignty by Herr Martin, German Front leader. He also declared that the Saar Commission was serving foreign interests rather than the Saarlanders. He denied any animosity toward foreign troops, who were only doing their duty, but he complained of the British using as a .hospital a building devoted to cultural purposes. He demanded that the police be forbidden to carry whips and sticks, which were provocative, and denounced the decree preventing any display of flags. He further declared that the Saarlanders were being tortured with humiliation, but would “give traitors their receipt when they voted on January 13.” - As Herr Martin concluded his speech the German Front members walked out amid the jeers of their opponents. A Communist deputy violently attacked the German Front, alleging planned terrorism, including attacks on the commissioners, but he did not provide any proof of his allegations.
