UNUSUAL ACTIVITY
Sunday on Wellington Waterfront Yesterday morning was an unusually active one for a Sunday at the port of Wellington, no fewer than five big overseas vessels arriving, at or leaving port before midday. The vessels to leave were the Orient liner Oronsay at 7 a.m. for Sydney, and the Shaw. Savill steamer Mahana at 745 a.m for Loid don. The C. and D. Line motor-ship Port Fairy, which arrived from New Plymouth, wa,s unable ro tie up at the King's Wharf until the Oronsay had left her berth, while the Shaw, Savlil motor-ship Karamea was in the same position, being unable to berth qt the Glasgow Wharf until the Mahana had sailed. The other big vessel to arrive was the Union Company’s Maheno from Melbourne an'd South Islam! ports'. The busy export season is now in full swing, except for fruit, and the Wellington waterfront should have very few slack spells now until the end of May.
