WEDDINGS

Collins—Longworth The marriage of Jeannette Louie, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 11. E. Longworth, Fitzgerald Street, Christchurch, and late of Karori, to Charles Edgar, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Collins, Whangarel, was celebrated on Boxing Day at St. Mary’s Church, Merivale, Christchurch, by the Rev. A. K. Warren.

The bride, who was escorted to the altar by her father, wore ,a gown of parchment ring velvet made on closefitting lines, and her embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a circlet of creme rosebuds. Her bouquet was of creme carnations and maidenhair term. Miss Nellie Longworth, the bride’s sister, was her attendant. She wore a deep blue ring velvet frock, made on the same design as that of tlie bride, and she carried a bouquet, of crimson and pink carnations and maidenhair. Mr. W. F. MacDonald, a cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. At the reception held after the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents, Mrs. Longworth wore a navy blue floral dress and navy hat, and carried deep-pink carnations. Mrs. Collins, mother of the bridegroom, was in an ensemble of black marocain with a black hat. The bride travelled in a frock of fawn marilla, a fawn coat trimmed with brown, and a brown and fawn hat. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Collins are taking up'their residence at Karori early in the New Year.

Cunningham—J antes

Knox Presbyterian Church. Masterton, was prettily decorated recently on the occasion of the marriage of Doris Irene, only daughter of Mrs. E. James, Mastdrton, to Thomas Allan, third son of Mrs. and the late Mr. I. R. Cunningham. Masterton. The Rev. John Davie was the officiating minister. The bride, who was given away by her uncle. Mr. L. Haxton, wore a closefitting trained gown of ivory french lace, with cowl neckline caught; with a tight sleeves. Her long veil of brussels net covered a tiny cap of ivory spray of orange blossom, and long lace. She carried a bouquet of white roses, pale pink carnations, and Christmas lilies. . _ . . The chief bridesmaid, Miss Jessie Cunningham. and the two other bridesmaids, Misses Lona Shaw and Janie Arcus, wore period frocks of apple green lace, with cowl necklines caught with diamante clips, and drop puff sleeves. Their frocks were trimmed with tiny lace and pink velvet flowers.

Mrs. James, wearing a dress of wine and white marocain, and a wine swagger coat with hat and bag to match, arid carrying carnations, received the guests. She was' assisted by Mrs. Cunningham, who wore an ensemble of navj/ and white, with hat to match, arid carried a posy to match. Later Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Cunningham left by car for the nort,h, the bride travelling, in a swagger ensemble of lido blue sanflella georgette, with matching hat and shoes.

Davidson—Evans

The wedding of Constance Winifred Evans, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. A, Evans, “Rangimarie.” Otaki, to Norman Keith Davidson, third son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Davidson, “Balgay,” Dannevirkej took place at All Saints’ Chtjrch, Otaki, on Wednesday. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a trained gown of blush pink san crepe, made on slim lines, the cowl neckline and yoke being outlined' in silver thread. Her veil (lent by her aunt, Mrs. AV. M. Dun : can) was of cream silk lace, caught with bauds of silver tissue and sprays of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of pink roses, carnations and maidenhair fern. She was attended by Miss Pat Schofield, Norsewood, wearing a frock of georgette in shades of daffodil and coral, with a hair bandeau of shaded flowers, and her bouquet was of dahlias in amber shades. Margaret Omundsen (Dannevirke), niece of the bridegroom, was a flower girl, in a frock of blush pink sprigged organdie, and carried a posy of pink spider geraniums and gypsophila. The bridegroom's neipjiew,, John Davidson, was trainbearer, wearing a'suit of white satin. Mr. David Davidson acted as best man. The Rev. F. S. Ramson performed the cerem'onv. Afterward a small reception was attended by relatives of the bride and bridegroom. Mrs. Evans received her guests wearing a gown of black muroeain and lace, with largo hat of black straw, and carrying a posy of lavender and pink roses. The bridegroom’s’ mother. Mrs. J. C. Davldsou, wore an ensemble of navy and beige silk, with navy hat trimmed with red ribbons, and her posy was of red carnations.

When Mr. and Mrs. Norman Davidson left for their future home in Hastings, the bride travelled in a suit of oatmeal llneu with a blouse of brown plaid taffeta, and matching hat, handbag and shoes, i * » *

Waugh—Frizzell

The wedding was solemnised on Wednesday at St, James’s Presbyterian Church, Wanganui East, by the Rev. G. S. King, of Rita Allee, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Frizzell, Wanganui East, and Ernest James’, only sou of Mr, and Mr.s. C. Waugh,

Wanganui. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown *of white, satin beaute and a silk net veil held . with orange blossom, and carried a bouquet of roses and carnations. Miss Mavis Frizzell was bridesmaid, wearing green silk suede and. a green hut. Her bouquet was of pink carnations aud dahlias. Mr. B. Roberts supported the •bridegroom. At the reception held at the Elrick Mrs. Frizzell wore a frock of navy cotele and beige, with beige hat, Mrs. Waugh was in navy and fawn si.ik marocain, with hat to match. When Mr. and Mrs. Waugh left for the north. . the latter wore a pongee silk .suit with green blouse and hat to match.

Kelly—Perrett

The marriage was solemnised on December 20 at St. Mary’s Church, Hamilton, of Claudia, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. I’. Perrett, Hamilton, and Daniel, youngest sou of Mr. JKelly, Christchurch. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Bleakley, who also celebrated Nuptial Mass, during which appropriate music was played by Miss Mara Salter. The bride, who entered the churco with her father, wore a gown of ivory matalasse satin, cut on princess lines and flaring at the hem to form a train. Her embroidered tulle veil was worn off the face and held by a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of white lilies. Miss Q. Perrett, who attended her sister as bridesmaid, wore a frock of blush-pink satin crepe trimmed with fine’pleating, and a wide brimmed hat to match, and her sheaf bouquet was of pink gladioli. Mr. J. J. Kelly attended, his brother as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Daffodil Tearooms, where the decorations were carried out with larkspur in shades of pink and blue. The guests were received by Mrs. Perrett and Miss (Wellington), sister of the bridegroom. The former wore an ensemble of navy floral marocain with navy hat and carried a bouquet in autumn shades. Miss Kelly wore a frock of blue and fawn flecked sand crepe and a fawn hat, and her bouquet was of sweet peas and carnations.

Calver—Mills

The wedding was solemnised at St. Lawrence’s Church, Aramoho, Wanganui, on Boxing Day, when Muriel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs., J. Culver, of Wanganui, was married to Edward William Mills, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. 0., Mills, Masterton. The church was still adorned with its lovely Christmas decorations, and the ceremony was performed by Canon W. G. Williams. Mr. It. Nelson played the wedding music. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a simply cut gown of ivory charriione lace, cut low in the back, with short sleeves and frilled panels of lace. Her brussels lace veil was held with a half hoop of orange blossom buds, and she carried :V shower bouquet of pale roses, carnations and fern. Her sister, Miss JOan Culver, was chief bridesmaid, wearing a pink lace frock and bandeau hat, and holding a sheaf of pink gladioli. -Miss Greta Runnerstrum, Dunedin, was the second bridesmaid, wearing a blue lace frock and blue hat. Her sheaf was of primrose gladioli. Messrs. L. Wilson and L. Mills, both of Wellington, supported the bridegroom. After the ceremony a reception was held at. Mr. and Mrs. Calver»s home in Argyle Street, where the latter received her guests wearing brown cotele and lace, with brown hat to match, aud holding a pink bouquet. Mrs. Mills also wore a brown ensemble and hat. AVhen Mr. and Mrs. Mills left the latter wore a smart ensemble of green corded silk aud bat to match. Their future home will be in Napier.
