TIRE FACTORY FOR NEW ZEALAND
Overseas Firm Considers Sites Dominion Special Service. Auckland, December 29. “Although no definite decision has been reached, the Goodyear Tyre Company is considering establishing a tire factory in New Zealand,” said Mr. J. R. Templin, of the firm of Toogood and Templin, Consulting Engineers, of Chris tchurcfi, who arrived by the Mariposa. “At present New Zealand is tie only country using large quantities of 1 tires where they are not manufactured in the country.” Mr. Templin left New Zealand in June last, and with his wife has motored across America. He said he had called upon the Goodyear company, and found that company had several sites under consideration for the establishment of a factory in the Dominion. If a factory were established it would bo primarily for tire-making, but no doubt other rubber goods would be made also. “It will be a good thing for New Zealand if the company .decides to go on with the proposal,” he said, “as it would provide work for several hundred men.”
