Y.M.C.A. CHRISTMAS
A novel function took place at the Y.M.C.A., Wellington, just prior to Christmas, when the association’s residents, dramatic club and social committee combined in holding a Christmas gathering. The evening commenced with the residents’ Christmas dinner, at which Mr. D. L. Gibson presided. The large dining-room was suitably decorated, aud various toasts were honoured, including “The Y.M.C.A.” (proposed by Air. D. L. Gibson, responded to by Mr. R. H. Nimmo, association president), and “The Matron and Staff”' (proposed by Mr. C. A. R. Brunt, responded to by Airs. Shepherd). An adjournment was then made to the main lounge, where members of the Y.AI.C.A, Dramatic Club presented three humorous sketches under the direction of Mr. C. E. Gardiner. The players were Misses Al. Small, S. Stewart, J. Thompson, M. Thompson, O. Oliver, Al. Day, P. Vernon; Messrs. W. Barclay, AV. Dickinson, A. Bignell, C. Spratt, D. Gibson, H. J. Wood, A. T. Fussell. Their efforts were well received by a crowded house. Dancing in the gymnasium concluded a successful evening.
