COMPOSITE SEAPLANE
Novel Launching Device London, December 1. A novel composite seaplane is being built for the trans-Atiantic service, the aeronautical correspondent of "The Times" states. ■lt consists of a big flying-boat with a high-speed seanliuie attached to the upper wing so as to use the combined power for talcing off and climbing until the height and speed are sufficient to allow the mail plane to fly independently. The pilot, will then release a patent lock and the mail plane will continue on its way, while the “porter plane” will return to its base. The device is designed to overcome the difficulty of a heavily loaded seaplane taking off from the sea. It will undergo tests at an early date.
