Chinese Communists Driven Off NO NEWS OF MISSIONARIES (Received December 28, 8.55 p.m.) Shanghai, December 28. ■ Anxiety regarding the safety of Wuhu and other important centres along the Yangtze River following Communist depredations in Southern Anhwei are now dispelled. Supported by aeroplanes. Government troops are reported to have driveu x the biggest Communist force, consisting of 50,000, toward the mountainous regions, removing an immediate threat to Wuhu. There are still no reassuring reports regarding the safety of two captive missionaries. Mr. Hayman, of New Zealand, and M. Bosshardt. a Swiss, who were captured in Hunan on October 9.
