Third and Fourth Rounds ABBOTT AND KELLING LEAD By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, December 28. The New Zealand chess championships were continued to-day into the third and fourth rounds. H. R. Abbott was leading by half a point from F. K. Kelling at the end of the fourth roun’l this evening, Abbott having won three games and drawn one, and Kelling having won three and lost one. Play so far has been very interesting ami even. In the third round Hardy beat Gray, Severne drew with Dunlop, Armstrong drew with Dyer, Erskine beat Kelling. Beyer beat Le Petit, Gyles beat Watt aud Darwin beat Scott. The Hicks v. Friberg game was not finished. In the fourth round Beyer beat Armstrong. Kelling beat Hardy, Le Petit beat Dunlop, Erskine beat Darwin, Abbott beat Gyles, Watt beat Friberg mid Scott beat Gray.
