CENTRES’ CHAMPION PAIR • WIN BY KELBURN The contest for tlio Wellington < entree pairs cliampion-liip was resumed on the Thermion Club's green yesterday morning in bright weather, with a light, wind blowing fitfully a'-ross tlie green. Otherwise the conditions were excellent, as was also the state of the green. The semi-final game resulted in a win for Hataitai over Karori, tlie scores being’: — Hataitai (Carswell and < ometti), 23: Karori (Burn and Cooper), hi. This was an admirably contested game almost up to the last head, when Karori had to get live points to equal their opponents’ score, but Ilatailai, playing a sound drawing game, managed to get two more shots, winning byUm comfortable margin of seven shots. The leads set a good sliiildard from the outset, few bowls being wasted for the first half of the game, anti the wasting of those eon Id be attributed to the strong gusts of wind which occasionally swept across the green, making wide ami narrow bands.
