DRY’ WARNING

SELECTION OF PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES THE PROHIBITION ISSUE EIGHTEENTH AMENDMENT MUST BE ENFORCED By Telegraph.—Press association. Copyright. (Rec. February 29, 8.5 p.m.) Washington, February 29. Thirty-one National “dry” organisations in conference to-day adopted a resolution demanding that the Republican and Democratic parties at the coming National Conventions shall choose Presidential candidates definitely and clearly committed to the enforcement of the eighteenth amendment and the necessary supporting legislation thereto; also the inclusion in their platforms of a policy of a similar character. The references to candidates are viewed as a warning to the Democrats against the nomination of Mr. Smith, Governor of New York. One speaker took the occasion to launch an open attack upon that gentleman.
