THOMAS HARDY’S WILL
BEQUEST FOR FOUNDING OF UNIVERSITY IN WESSEX London, February 26. The “Daily Mail” states that Thomas Hardy left £91,000. He bequeathed half of Lis residuary estate in trust for the first Wessex University established. If it is not established within five years of his wife’s death, it passes to Magdalene College, Cambridge. The remainder of the estate is left in trust to the widow and Hardy’s brother and sister, after bequests to charity and relatives. —Sydney “Sun” Cable.
