♦ MAN ARRESTED
(Rec. February 27, 11.50 p.m.) London, February 27. The police have arrested William Maynard, a rabbit trapper, who will lie charged with -murdering Roadley. He is a married man, living two miles from the scene of the crime. The man previously reported to have been detained has been released. It was reported last week that the police were confronted with a strange crime at Bude, Cornwall, where Richard Roadley, aged 81, a wealthy recluse, but with a reputation for generosity for the needy, was battered to death in his home. The room was ransacked, but a wallet containing £8 was lying on a chair. A man had been detained in connection with the murder. The police investigations showed that Roadley was wealthier than expected. He had £2OOO in the bank, and had inherited £30,000 worth of property in Lincolnshire. A .will was found bequeathing all his possessions to charitable institutions in Cornwall and Lincolnshire.
