THE GLOZEL “FINDS”

VAST HOAX ALLEGED FARMER AND FAMILY ARRESTED By Telegraph.—Peess Association. Copyright. (Rec. February 27, 7.5 p.m.) Paris, February 26. The battle betwen eminent French and foreign archaeologists concerning the Glozel finds has taken a sensational turn. The police seized six tablets, a mould, two files and other tools found in a farmhouse of Fradin (on whose land the; tablets were discovered) and his family, who were charging an entrance fee to view the finds. The seizure was the outcome of a formal charge of fraud made by the Societe Prehistorique, which characterises the Glozel find as a vast hoax tending to discredit French scientific work.

It was reported in December that M. Dussard had demanded a judicial inquiry into the Glozel discoveries. He accused Umile Fradin, son of the farmer who owns the site of the finds, of fraud. M. Dussard stated that the director of the Sain Germain Museum was preparing an independent report, showing that the bulk of the finds were manufactured stones, carved with steel instruments.
