A WELCOME GIFT. On behalf of tho Rev. Alother and the nursing sisters of the Afakogai (Fiji) Leper Station, the .Minister in charge of Cook Islands (lion. Sir Maui Pomare), acknowledges receipt of <£s towards the fund for (he erection of an entertainment hall at the institution. “This welcome gift,” said the Minister yesterday, “is the first fruits of the illustrated lecture on the work of the station, which was delivered at the Town Hall, Wellington, last week. As was then pointed nut, a sum of ,£lOO is still necessary to complete the funds required for (he hall, which is now in course of ereetion ; and the Cook Islands Department will be very pleased to receive any contributions towards this most deserving obiect. The building is being provided by funds voluntarily contributed, in proportion to their interests in the station, by the public of New Zealand. Fiji, Samoa, the Cook Islands, and Niue.”
