LONG DISTANCE RACE. Three races were held by the Evans Bay Yacht: (Hub on Saturday in light weather conditions. Following are the results, handicaps and corrected times being given:— KEEL YACHTS. Yesterday the Evans Bay Yacht Chib held a long distance race, from the club- j house, round Somes Island, down the main channel, round a mark boat at Island Bay, and back to the club house. M’nirere forged ahead right from tho start, and rounding Somes Island, was lamin, to the good, a.nd by the time she reached Island Bay, was about 35inin. ahead of the other yachts. Aller rounding the mark boat, tho wind began to play tricks, Wnirer«, remaiu’ng almost stationary in a light southerly, while the remaining yachts came bowling along with a northerly wind, until this had made up their .leeway. Through this trick of the wind. Wairere lost: her lead, and only got under way again when Viola find passed her. and the others were in a cluster round her. On the run home she made up time, but the half hour wasted cost her the race. The result, handicaps, and corrected times being given, were:— Linnett. (GOmin.), 3hr. Gulin. 50sec, ... 1 Tolanthe (47min.). 3hr. lilmin. .Msec. .. 2 Venus (47min.), 3hr. 18min. 53see. . . 3 Also started: Viola (2(lmin.). 31ir. 38min. •IGsec.; and Wairere (scr.), 3hr. 51min. 16 sec. PA REM ATA RACES. A full sail northerly and a smooth sea made, sailing conditions ideal when two races were sailed at Paremata during the week-end. Placiltgs and actual sailing times are detailed below:— First-class Sailing Boats.—lbex (11 min.), ihr. 12min.. 1; Kotuku (linin.). Ihr. 12min.. 2; Ariki (9niin.), Ihr 201 min.. 3. Kuini (scr.) was the only other starter. SecomLelass Sailing Boats.—Arabiwi (Irnin.). Ihr. 7min. 1: Miloed (scr.). Ihr. 7min. 2. Those wore the only two boats to complete tho course. The launch race resulted in an easy win for Robert Ee Lee with Trixie second. nnd Katrina third. Also started: Cygnet.
