WELLINGTON CLUB I. MACEWAN WINS THE CHAMPIONSHIP Remarkable golf was played by I. MatEwan when he defeated K. D. Duncan in the final of the Wellington Golf Club championship at lleretaunga during the week-end. Mac Ewan played magnificently, and overwhelmed K. D. Duncan, who beat A. D. S. Duncan on the seventeenth green last week. In his morningy round Mac Ewan did 71, which is one over pnr for the course and six under bogey. In the at’ternoon he did a fine GS. with three s’s on his card, two of which (at the second and eighteenth) might easily have been I’s. Ho was on the edge of the green at the second in two. and visited a bunker at the last hole. His card read as follows: Ont: 454434343—33. In: 4.15W3345-35 This scorn was sufficient to give him the match, 10 and 9. _ Duncan did n 78 and a 77, and wa« six down after tho morning round.
