The will, dated August 24, 1922, left unpublished manuscripts and correspondence to his literary executors, who are his wife and Sydney Conkerill, of the Fitzwilliam Aluseunt, Cambridge, giving them power to dispose of them without injury to any persons of character. The executors are requested ip cause to be published an edition of his complete poems at a price within the reach of poorer readers. Hardy left £5O to the pension fund of the London Society of Author, £5O each to the Society for the of Cruelty to Animals and the Council of Justice for Animals, with a view to lessening the sufferings of animals in transit to homes ami slaughter-houses and taking condemnatory action with regard to the caging of wild birds and rabbits.

A few gifts of books and portraits are made to galleries and friends, otherwise the estate goes to his wife and his brother and sister.
