An attempt to establish the world’s speed record for aircraft will be made on the first favourable day after March 5 with a Supermarine Napier seaplane, which is a duplicate of the machine in which Flight-Lieutenant Webster won the Schneider trophy at Venice last September. The machine was one of the reserve seaplanes for the Venice contest, but was not needed on that occasion. In next month’s test, which will take place over Southampton water before accredited representatives of the Federation Aeron.iutiquc International, the machine will be flown by Flight-Lieu-tenant Kinkead, pilot oi one o( the British machines in the Schneider trophy race. The existing seaplane speed' record is 296.91 miles hourly, held bv the Italian Major Bernardi.—British Official Wireless.
