MOUNT COOK SITE

A DECISION REACHED BY GOVERNMENT The Govertment has come to a definite -decision concerning the Mount Cook site upon which it is proposed to erect the Dominion Museum, the National Art Gallery, the National War Memorial, and the War Memorial Carillon. Tt was reported yesterday that the site was to be handed over to the civic authorities, but no confirmation of this could be obtained. Seen prior to his departure for the South, the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates) informed a Dominion reporter that a letter on the subject was on its wav to the Mayor (Mr. G. A. Troup). He was not prepared to disclose the contents of the communication.
