ITALY’S FOOD
MUSSOLINI ORDERS A “RICE DAY” Rome, February 19. To-day was "rice day” throughout Italy, Mussolini having ordered that rich and poor abke should partake of this dish. The Dictator has found that rice was cultivated in many districts of Italy, and that it was more nutritious and cheaper than spaghetti. Moreover, a national increase in the consumption of rice may save Italy from having io import wheat. Fascist newspapers are exhorting the public to eat rice, and doctors are giving addresses in pulpits in the churches on the subject. Hotels and restaurants include rice in every menu, and there are free distributions of the grain in the poorer districts.
