A true illustration of the sporting spirit was given a gentleman 82 years of age who came from Lyttelton to see the Sanders Cup race at Stewart Island and travelled across by the tug (says the "Southland Tinies”). It goes to prove that love of sport is not confined only to the younger generation, and travellers on the boat expressed their astonishment and surprise on learning the age of the old gentleman, whose appearance suggested that he was on. joying the best of health.
