BIBLE CLASS UNION
The seventh annual meeting of the Wellington Diocesan Committee of the New Zealand Anglican Bible Class Union was held last week, ten of the twelve affiliated city classes being represented. The election of officers for the year resulted as follows: Chairman, the Rev. T. F. Taylor: secretary, Mr. C. M. Dukes; assistant secretary, Mr. E. R. Niwman; visiting committee, Messrs. R. Brierley, H. Irving, and C. M. Dukes. , ± A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring secretary (Mr. Kingsford) for his valuable work during the year. It was decided to hold a rally on Sunday, March 25, and to accept the offer of St. Cuthbert’s, Berhampore, to hold the function therp. A proposal to join the Inter-Bible Class Council was referred to the Bishop of the diocese for his advice before taking definite action. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs. Dukes. Irving and Newman, was set up to investigate the possibilities of getting in touch with youths arriving at Wellington from other parts of the country in the public service, and, if necessary to approach the Public Service Commissioner on the matter. The secretary was instructed to communicate with the C.E.M.S. immigration officer to devise some scheme of welcoming youths arriving from England. The chairman gava notice of motions for next meeting, dealing with a "Quiet Day” on June 3, a diocesan week-end camp on Labour Day, and a mission Sunday for daring the year.
