_— .MEETING OF COUNCILThe Council of the New Zealand Olympic Gaines Association met last; night, Air. 11. Amos presiding. The New Zealand Rugby Union wi;ote intimating that it would hold an exhibition match of the All Blacks prior to their departure tor South Africa in aid of the fund to send the New Zealand competitors to the Games. Mr. .1. \V. Heenan said that he was pleased to see the New Zealand Rugby Union backing up the Olympic Association when they had nothing to gain from the movement. It was decided to place (lie appreciation of the council on record, and a sub-committee, consisting of the two Rugby representatives on the council, and Messis. R. Paton and A. IV. O. Travers, to conclude the arrangements for the match. A sub-committee was set up. consisting of Messrs. Heenan, Bayfield. Wylie, Camp,'and Amos, to deal with the com-: ing appeal for funds which Mr. G. P. Aldridge is to organise. Dr. Davies, of New Plymouth, is to ba requested to form a branch of the association in Taranaki. The New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association informed the council that an active campaign for funds was being conducted in Wellington, Auckland, and Christchurch, aud it expected similar campaigns would be inaugurated elsewhere. Advice was received that all tracks at the Games would be cinders, not grass, and that the 100 metres track was straight. The rowing cotirso would bo on a fresh-water river, which was 40 metres wide. Only fwo competitors could take part in a heat. By using oil to lay the dust in Londorf schoo s. instead of having the floors £J l^’ cd re s ul arly. it is hoped to save i'lu.vw a year.
