MAIN HIGHWAYS BOARD L AND THE ROADS k A case brought by the Main Highways Board against N. G. Newinan, ot Levin, who was cuarged with driving a motor-lorry on the irorokiwi Gorge and I’aekakanki road with a load exceeding the. weight limit allowed on that road, ■was yesterday dismissed by Mr. B. Bage, 8.A1., in the Magistrate's Court. Giving his reserved decision in the matter the Magistrate held that the power of classification of the roads did not rest with the Main Highways Board, but with 'the Governor-General, and that accordingly the road in question had never been properly classified. Luder the circumstances the information must fail. On the application of Mr. E. Currie, who stated on behalf of the Alain Highways Board that he thought Ike case ■would be taken to some higher Court, security to appeal was fixed ar. .CIO 10s. At the hearing, defendant was represented by Mr. D. Perry.
