AUCTIONEER IN COURT

A CHARGE WITHDRAWN. John Meredith Pearson, an auctioneer, of Petone, appeared before Air. E. Page,/ S.M., in the Magistrate s Court yesterday charged with having failed to pay into his trust account the sum ot .£125 Os. 6d., which money was received by him on behalf of James Annandale. Chief Detective Ward said that Pearson was before the Court on December 14 charged under the Auctioneers Act with the present offence, and also with having fraudulently failed to account for .£125. On the latter charge Pearson had recently appeared before the Supreme Court, where he was fined <£2s m default six months' imprisonment. When the charge of failing to pay the money into his trust account was before the Magistrate's Court it was stood over on the application of the police until tho other one had been dealt with. Under the circumstances the police now applied to have the charge withdrawn, as it arose out of the same transaction as the other cnarge. The Magistrate allowed the information to bo withdrawn accordingly.
