YOUNG MAN DROWNED
SEVERAL BATHERS LN DIFFICULTIES. By Telegraph.—Press association. Dunedin, February 20. Thomas Dick, aged 18 years, was drowned at St. Clair to-night about 7 o’clock. It: appears that a girl, Mamie Green, and Samuel Cameron got into difficulties, and a man, whose name is not known, went out to attempt a rescue, and himself got into trouble. By the aid of a lifeline Miss Green and the would-be rescuer were safely brought ashore, and Cameron was also saved by a man who disappeared without divulging his name. After the excitement of the rescue had died down a little the startling discovery was made that a young man (Dick) had been noticed about 59 yards further out than Miss Green and Cameron. By tho time the discovery was made, however, lie had disappeared.
