SCATTERED SHOWERS
PROBABLE IN NORTH ISLAND “Since Thursday morning the barometer has fallen, more especially in the southern parts of the Dominion,” stated the Director of the Meteorological Office yesterday. “The winds freshened from the north and from the northwest. At 9 a.m. to-day showers were reported from New Plymouth and Russell, and rain was falling at Puyseger Point. Elsewhere the weather was mostly fair to fine, with considerable haze. A fairly vigorous depression is located over the central portion of the Tasman Sea, and as this moves eastwards it is probable that fairly general rain will be experienced over the Dominion, although in the North Island it may be confined to scattered showers. A southerly change is expected to reach South Otago during Friday evening, and to extend gradually northwards and eastwards, producing cooler temperatures.”
