ALLEGED INTOXICATED MOTORIST

SEQUEL TO HUTT ROAD COLLISION Mention of the motor-car collision in which four people were injured on the Hutt' Road late on Thursday night, was made in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, when Ernest William Armstrong, aged 47, who was the driver of one of the vehicles concerned, was charged with being found in charge of a* motor-car while in a state of intoxication. Sub-Inspector Lander stated that as accused was still in the hospital suffering from injuries received in the smash, the police were unable, for the time being, to go on with the case. He asked that’Armstrong be remanded to appear on Tuesday. “Accused requested us to apply for bail,’’ added the Sub-Inspector, ‘ibut as the collision was a serious one we suggest that it be made substantial.” The Magistrate (Mr. E. Page, S.M.) granted the desired remand, and admitted the accused to bail in the sum of £3O.
