WIRELESS AND CABLES

DEVELOPMENTS FROM CONFERENCE POOLING ARRANGEMENT PROBABLE London, February 14.—■ Interesting developments are expected shortly from the wireless and cable conference, the evidence before which has been completed. The conference is conferring with Marconis and the East ern Cable Company concerning the negotiations proceeding between these companies with a view to a pooling arrangement. It is understood that the conference attaches great importance to American developments, and is anxious to arrive at a solution enabling Empire communications to be maintained in the face of growing competition. 'Several newspapers report that Marconis and the Eastern people have reached a deadlock. It is understood that this report is unfounded, and that the greatest efforts are being made to reach an agreement. The stipulation nt present is that beam rates are not to be increased, with provision for future reductions, if necessary, to meet outside competition. It is probable that anv co-operation of Marconis and (he cable company will be subject to Government supervision.—A.P.A. and “Sun.”
