AUSTRALIAN RIFLEMEN
PRACTICE SHOTS AT TRENTHAM. Victorian riflemen, who intend to take part in the coming meeting of the National Kifle Association, weret on practising on the range’ nt Trentham yester* day. Shooting at ranges )of 300, 500, and GOO yards was carried out, a 99 and a 98 out of a possible 105 being secured, while 9fi’s were not uncommon. The visiting, marksmen expressed themselves as being very pleased with the ammunition, one of them remarking that he had not found the conditions nearly as tricky as they had been depicted. The 'New South Wales team, who arrived at Auckland on Tuesday, are at present at Rotorua. They' will arrive in Wellington on Saturday morning, and together with the Victorian team, will compete in a friendly match with Wellington and Wairarapa representatives at Trentham on Saturday. On Sunday morning the visitors will motor to (ireytown, in readiness for the Wairarapa rifle meeting, commencing at Japawat on Monday. A picnic at Mount Holdsworth has been arranged for the visi* tors for Sunday afternoon.
