TOWN AND COUNTRY Mrs Bale and family, of Palmerston north, have returned from Paraparaumu. Miss McKinney, of Auckland, is. the guest of Mrs. W. E. Carter, of Hawera. Mis; M Sim has returned to Palmerston North, after a holiday at Tauranga. Mr. and Mrs. T. O’Connor have returned to Porangahau, after a motor t<ur of the South Island. Mrs. Morrison, of Danevirke, is the guest of Mrs. K. Clayton, I’almetston North. Miss S. Bennett, who has been the guest of Mrs. J. Gleeson, Hawke’s Bay, left by the Tahiti for America, where she will in future reside. Miss'N. McHardy has left Palmerston North for “Arimona,” Hawke’s. Bay, where she will reside in future. Mrs. M. Thompson and Miss Martin are Christcnurch visitors to Hawera. Mr. and Mrs. T. Irvine, of \\ hakatane, w.ho are touring the North Island by car, spent a few days in Palmerston North recently. Mrs. Wall, of Kairanga, is on a visit to Wellington. Major and Mrs. Miles, of Sydney, are the guests of Mrs. S. Goldingham, “Nettleworth,” Palmerston North. Mrs. Dillon has been spending a few days in Palmerston North prior to leaving for India, where she will join her husband, Captain Dillon. The wedding took place recently at Akitio of Ester Victoria, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Armstrong, to Edwin Arnold, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilding, sen., of Christchurch, and brother of the late Mr. Anthony Wilding. The wedding ceremony took place at the residence of the bride’s parents, and the beautiful grounds lent themselves admirably to the occasion. The officiating minister was the Rev. G. B. Stephenson (Dannevirke). The bride was attired in a Victorian frock of white lace, made on very simple lines, while the hand-made veil formed a short train. The bridesmaids, Misses Averil, Strachan, Marie Stead, Billy Hassall, and Diana Armstrong, all wore frocks in shades of pink and apple green floral ninon, finished at the hems with georgette and lace, and swathed with green sashes. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. G. Burdon (Otago) and the grooms men were Messrs. H. Armstrong, C. Keele, and H. Guinness. The several hundred guests were entertained in a large marquee, which was later converted into a ballroom. When Mr. and Mrs. Wilding left for _ the south amidst showers of good wishes and confetti the bride was dressed in a biege suit with hat to tone. MADAME MENERE’S TOUR.
Madame Menere will be shortly commencing her 1928 Dominion tour, het opening town being Invercargill. The North Island tour should begin aboui the same time as last year, round about Easter. More definite details will be announced at a later date Madame announces the arrival very shortly of some wonderful furs from London and Paris.—Advt.
