AN APPEAL
(To the Editor.) Sir,—The whole community has been shocked by the fatal accident which bcfel the late Rev. W. S. Tremain, vicar of Rongotea, on January 16 this year. The deceased clergyman was accidentally killed at the Longburn-Rongotea railway crossing, one of the most dangerous crossings in the district. The late Rev. W. S. Tremain gave the best part of his life to the service of the Church in missionary .work amongst the Eskimos of Northern Canada, until he was forced to leave through illhealth. Owing to the small salary of a missionary, the expenses of sickness, and his generosity, the lafe clergyman has been unable to provide anything for his widow and two children. The vestry of the Rongotea Parochial District appeal to all for monetary assistance for this very sad and deserving case Mr. J. Linklater, the member of Parliament for the district, and Mr. A. J. Graham, Mayor of Palmerston North have consented to act as trustees for the fund.-We W. B. CROAD, Churchwardnm!. February 14.
