■ . MONTHLY MEETING. Carterton, February 15. ..-.The' Wairarapa Power Board met at Carterton yesteiday, Mr. J. W. Kershaw presiding. The board approved of the staff holding an annual picnic on a Saturday, those attending to be granted a half-day off. As' anticipated, the Daylight Saving Bill has had an appreciable effect on the revenue. The total gross revenue .for December, 1927, was £623 10s. 4d. less than for December, 1926. The total net revenue for the same period was £430. l‘4s. *Jd. less. The irregular reading of the meters in 1926 accounts for a portion of the difference. The total gross revenue for -January, 1928 (excluding the Masterton Hospital) was £499 3s. 3d. more than in January , 1927. The net levenue lor the same period was £290 Os 6d. more. The secretary reported since the last meeting the connected load had increased by 175 k.w. The house wiring staff was kept fullv employed, 47 consumers being connected during December and January. Advice-was received that the'Lands Department had abandoned its claim in connection with Mr. Hubbard’s cows which were electrocuted. --Owing to the shortage of water at Mangahao, it. was not possible to shut down the Kourarau plants to carry out the necessary cleaning operations on the pipe lines and lower dam. ■ Consumers connected to the mains number 3144 as follow:—Masterton, 1417 ; Carterton, 676; Greytown, 231; Featherston, 418; Martinborough, 402. It was reported that a number of interruptions to the supply had occurred through the Mangahao automatic scutches tripping. The engineer reported that numerous interruptions in supply had occurred on the Longbush and Ponatalii lines. Investigation proved that large numbers of birds frequently took up n position on the Post and Telegraph protection guards, where a connection could be made between the power line and the earth guard, which made the line dead. Permission had been obtained to fit the telephone crossings underground, and since doing so nn the Lougbush line there had been no interruption, etaoinetetetetetetetetet ctetetctet eteteto
