St. Peter and St. Paul (Lower Hutt), at St. Joseph’s. „ DAVIS CUP CONTESTS TILDEN AND HUNTER’S INTENTIONS. New York, February 14. W. T. Tilden and F. T. Hunter announced on Tuesday that they were ready to acceded to the request of the Davis Cup Committee to compete for the United States either in American or inter-zone Davis Cup play. [Previously Tilden stated that he and Huuter (irrespective of whether the United States entered for the Davis Cup in the American zone or the European zone) had decided to tour Europe again this coming season, and would not be available for play in the American zone. The United States has entered in the American zone. The standard of tennis in the other countries that have entered in that zone is so much lower than that of the United States (Australia having entered in the European zone) that it seems almost certain that Tilden and Hunter will play only in the final between the winning countries of the two zones, should the United States win the final round. Tilden and Hunter will almost certainly be the mainstays of the team to meet France in the challenge round.—" Forehand."! WILDING SHIELD MATCH. x By Telegraph.—Press association. Christchurch, February 15. The following tennis team will represent Canterbury against Wellington in the match for the Wilding ShieldG. Ollivier, 1. Seay, C. Angas, and W. Walker.
