ODDFELLOWS’ PICNIC

ENJOYABLE DAY AT BELMONT. PARK. The Wellington District Grand United Order of Oddfellows held their annual combined picnic at Belmont Park on Sunday. There was a very good attendance of members from all branches and their friends. Great interest was taken in the races. Some good finishes were witnessed, there being several dead heats, which required run-offs. Newtown Alpha again won the challenge shield in the relay race, and Bro. Slocombe, of Newtown, won the branch championship. Other results were:— Single Ladies’ Race: Miss E. Knopp, 1; ; ss A. Rouse, 2. Married Ladies’ Race: Mrs. Porter, 1; Mrs. Piper, 2.
