WALLACE AND LAWSON SENTENCED. Found guilty of theft from the person of George Aurisch at Paekakariki last November, Edward Lawson and George Wallace were sentenced in the Supreme Court yesterday by the Chief Justice (Sir Charles Skerrett). Wallace having denied a statement of previous convictions, Detective-Sergeant Holmes gave evidence that Wallace’s name was John Benson, and that he had been convicted 38 times for theft from the person, vagrancy, and robbery in company in Australia.
