WEEK-END RESULTS SAILING IN LIGHT WINDS Three races were held by the Evans Bay Club on Saturday in a very light and flukey nor’-wester. At tunes the wind died right away, to come again from a new quarter. KEEL YACHTS. In the keel yachts’ handicap, sailed round Somes Island, the entrants secured a good start, Wairere being slightly in the lead. The result, handicaps and corrected times being given, was Wairere (scr.), shrs. dniin. Idsee. ... 1 Venus (IShniii.), shrs. 49min. •lusec. ... 2 lolanthe (17mm.), shrs.- ulmin. 30sec. 3 Windward (lOmin.), Chrs. 4min. 55sec. 4 The wind was light all the way, the last three yachts, close together, making a good race of it. Coming up the bay to finish they ran into a calm, lolanthe and Venus setting leaders to catch the light easterly wind These two crossed the line practically together. 18-FOOT YACHTS AND UNDER. The race for 18-footers and under drew an unusually large entry. The boats secured a good start, getting away in a bunch, with Illinois leading slightly. Illinois was first round the first buoy, Sylvia second, the rest of tho field rounding together. Irex attempted to use her spinnaker on the first run down, but, though she used it to effect later, had to abandon tho attempt, the wind being too light. The result, handicaps and corrected times being given, was:— Illinois (9min.), 4hr. The race was sailed twice round the course within the bay. RACE FOR LAUNCHES. The race for launches was a very close contest between Stella and Felix, the two boats keeping together right from'the start. Stella, who finished 4 seconds ahead, was first away. PORT NICHOLSON CLUB A launch race, (started under the Mark ■Foy system) was held by the Port Nicholson Motor Boat Club twice round a caurse from the wharf to Coromandel buoy, to Jerninghajn buoy, and home. The result, handicaps, and finishing times being given was:— Atlanta (fhnin.), 4hr. 19min. 36sec. 1 Kereru (2min.), 4hr. 21min._ ssee. ... 2 Hiawatha. (4min.), 4hr. 22min. 17sec. 3 Taniora (Gmin.), 41ir. 23piin. 16sec. ... 4 WORSER BAY CLUB The Worser Bay Club held a race over the club course. It was started under the Mark Foy system, and resulted:— Karkariki 1 Maru 2 Gypsy ? Spitfire 4 PAREMATA CLUB Four races were got off during the week-end by the Paremata Club, a light southerly prevailing. First-class Sailing Boats.—Kotuku (3 min.), 2hr. 9min.. 1; Kuini (scr.), 2hr. 7min., 2; Ariki (lOmin.), 2hr. 32min., 3. Second-class Sailing Boats, —Miloed (scr.), 2hr. Gmin., 1; Arahiwi (lOmin.), 2hr. 24min., 2; Limerick (20min.), 2hr. 35min., 3. Launch Race.—Katrina (scr.), 21{min., 1; Cygnet (9min.), 34Jmin„ 2; Robt. E. Lee (13min.), 40}min., 3. Katrina created a new record for tho course.
