MEMORIAL SERVICE TO-MORROW
TO THE DATE FIELD-MARSHAL HAIG. Under the auspices of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association’ and the Mayor and city councillors, a memorial service to commemorate the late Field-Marshal Earl Haig will be held in the Town Hall at 3 p.m. tomorrow. The form of service arranged will include appropriate hymns, short addresses by Rev. Fielden Taylor, Rev. J. R. Blanchard (St. John’s), and Mr. W, Perry (vice-president, N.Z.R.S.A.), the “Dead March” in “Saul” by the city organist, Mr. Bernard F. Page, and the Salvation Army Citadel Band, "Requiem” by Mr. Harison Cook, and “The East Post” and “Revielle” by Staff-Sergeant-Major Baker (Defence Department). In connection with the memorial service a parade of Imperial ex-service men (naval and military), South African war veterans, and returned soldiers of the Great War. will be held, the point of assembly being the Returned Soldiers’ Club, 12 Brandon Street, at 2.30 p.m., afterwards proceeding, headed by the Salvation Army Citadel Band, via Lambton Quay, Willis Street, Manners Street, and Cuba Street, to the Town Hall, where seating accommodation will be reserved in the body of the ball for all returned soldiers and members of the Army Nursing Service. Dress fot the parade will be mufti, medals and decorations to be worn. It is anticipated that there will be a large attendance of the public, and amongst those who have intimated their intention of being present are the Prime Minister and Mrs. Coates, the G.O.C. Defence Forces, the Consuls for United States, Italy, Belgium, France, and China, Sir Joseph Ward, Hon. R. A. Wright, Commissioner Hay and Colonel Hay (Salvation Army), the Mayor, and city councillors.
