DAY’S BAY ROADS

PARKING CAUSES CONGESTION HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL TO / TAKE ACTION Action is to be taken by tile Hutt County Council in the direction of preventing the parking of cars in the chief thoroughfares at Day’s Bay on Sundays and public holidays. At last night’s meeting of the council a resolution was carried that the county solicitor draft a by-law prohibiting the parking of cars on Slain Road and Tui Road on Sundays and public holidays, and those portions of Moana Road and Kereru Road between Tui and Main Roads, and also to provide for one way traffic on Moana, Tui, and Kereru Roads on such days. This action was the outcome of a motion by Councillor D. R. Hoggard, who declared that the parking of cars at the Bay was causing obstacles to traffic and also causing serious inconvenience. “Notices against parking,” he said, “are ineffective because there are no by-laws to back them up.”
