THREE MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT
4 MAN COMMITS BREACH OF PROBATION. Five charges of committing breaches of liis prohibition order and one charge of failing to comply with the terras ot his probation were admitted by Ankor Jacob Karlo Jensen in tho Magistrates Court yesterday .... . Sub-Inspector Lander stated that since accused had been ordered to take a prohibition order lie hud been drinking in various hotels and Routing the Court. Unless he was actually found with liquor in his hands in a hotel he would deny the offence, as he had done on several occasions. He bud been given many chances, but still kept on procuring liquor and going into licensed premises. Mr. T. P. Mills (Probation Officer) stated that accused hud originally been placed on probation nt Christchurch lor assault. Ho had been cha'ged on that occa&ion with assaulting a person so as to cause grevious bodily harm, but the jury bad asked that tho case be reduced to one of common assault,, and this was done. In granting Jensen probation, the Judge made it a condition of his release that he take out a prohibition order. Accused, however, had continued drinking 2?d visiting hotels. In tho Wellington Court he had been recently convicted for assault and fined X'lo. He had been shown the greatest consideration un to the present time, but it would be useless to give him another chance. The Magistrate (Mr. E. suited that he agreed with Mr. Mills when he said that Jensen had been shown every consideration. For committing a breach of his probation order accused would be sentenced to three months imprisonment with hard labour. On each of the other charges bo would be convicted and discharged.
