It is alleged that the removal of so many eels from the Taranaki streams has resulted in a greatly reduced water level (states the Stratford “Post ). true or otherwise, the water level is certainly low. The other morning it- was estimated that at least three tons of eels had been caught since the inception of the Eel Club and 16,000 feet of eel line had been supplied to members of the Eel Club.
