RAILWAY EXCURSION
The seaside excursions promoted by tho Railway Department in other parts of the provinco during this summer have been in each easo very successful. AVilli a view to enabling AVairarajiu residents to spend five or six hours at the seaside, tlie Department now proposes to run an excursion from Alasterton to AVelliogton on Sunday, February 19. An attractive fare has been provided, and it is anticipated that a large number will avail themselves of thi“ opportunity. Those desiring to visit Day’s Bay beach may detrain at Petone and join a special bus for the bay. The return trip may bo made either by bus to Petone or steamer to AA’elli:' ‘ >'i. The Day’s Bay and Petone L; -es are considered amongst the safest in New Zealand. In regard to the latter, many improvements in the immediate surroundings have contributed to placing it on a standard comparable with other popular watering places.
